World Radiography Day 2020

World Radiography Day is celebrated on 8 November each year. The date marks the anniversary of the discovery of x-radiation by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895.

Members of the profession worldwide use the day to promote radiography and radiation therapy as careers, as a vital contribution to modern healthcare and as a chance to increase public awareness of diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy.

This year, 2020, the NZIMRT is encouraging you to reflect on the impact the Covid 19 pandemic is having on your colleagues around the world.  Becoming an Associate member of the International Society of Radiographers & Radiological Technologists (ISRRT) can help support our profession through the development of educational materials, collaboration with WHO supporting basic safety guides & the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) promoting radiation safety practices.  This year the ISRRT role has extended to the provision of materials in support of safe practice in the radiation sciences, diagnostic & therapeutic, during Covid 19.  For an average cost of NZ$30.00 per year (£30.00 for 3 years) you can make a positive difference to the profession worldwide!

World Radiography Day Posters
This year’s posters celebrate how members of  our profession have come together during the Covid-19 crisis and the hugely important role that you have played and continue to play in the response. Click on the posters to download.

Celebrate your profession
2020 has been a very challenging year internationally and one that has not provided many reasons to celebrate, however on World Radiography Day we want to encourage you to share the successes of our profession and help others to understand the important work that you do.
It’s a great opportunity to talk to patients and carers, students and colleagues about all that our profession offers.

Thank-you
The NZIMRT would like to express their gratitude to our amazing members and colleagues overseas who have designed posters that raise awareness of the role of our profession during this incredibly challenging time.

Log in to www.isrrt.org now and make that difference.

      ASMIRT-NZIMRT JOINT CONFERENCE NEW DATES- 2021 RE-VISION

ASMIRT and NZIMRT are happy to announce that we have been able to successfully confirm new dates for the ASMIRT-NZIMRT Vision 2021 conference.

For all the up to date information please go to the conference website.

The new dates are 4-7 June 2021.

Please note: this event is running from Friday-Monday (with the Conference dinner being on Sunday night), a slight change from previous Thursday-Sunday conferences.

This postponement will be an equivalent replacement for the planned event originally scheduled for 14-17 May 2020, and in turn scheduled for February 2021.

The conference will be held at the same venue, the Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre (MCEC), in the same rooms, with the addition of an extra plenary and potentially more exhibition space to help with social distancing if applicable then. While we understand that there will be some inevitable changes to the conference program, authors who were accepted to present at the conference remain as part of the program.

ASMIRT and NZIMRT would like to express our sincere thanks to our presenters, participants, sponsors and exhibitors for your understanding, support and flexibility.

      Yours sincerely,

      Bronwyn Hilder, ASMIRT President
      Carolyn Orum, NZIMRT President
