NZSMIRT Continuing Education Fund (Funding for Groups)

  • Funding is available for educational opportunities which contribute to the body of knowledge of our profession and enhance professional development of groups.
  • Funds are to be used as an enabler for members to access continuing professional development activities as groups.
  • Funds are to be used for group events and will not be available to individuals.
  • Funds will be used to support a variety of education activities such as, modality-based programmes and study days.

Additional Considerations:

  • At the AGM of the NZSMIRT the amount of funds available for the coming year will be set; these funds will be held in a separate account.
  • The only event excluded from the application process is the Annual NZSMIRT Conference.

Rouse Educational Trust (Funding for Individuals)

Shortly after the first Annual General Meeting of the New Zealand Society of Radiographers in 1959, a gift of 100 pounds was received from Mr Edgar Rouse who retired that year from the position of Chairman of Kodak, Australia. Mr Rouse requested that his gift be applied to some aspect of education and the Society instituted a separate account bearing his name with a formal Deed of Trust in operation since 1962.

Accumulation of further monetary gifts, interest on investments and NZSMIRT Capitation Fees brings the Trust to its current position. As well as supporting the continuing professional development of MRTs and RTs, the Trust also supports the K.C. Clark Memorial Orator at the NZSMIRT Annual Conference.

The Rouse Educational Trustees invite applications from MRTs and RTs who are undertaking all forms of continuing education, from conference attendance to formal educational programmes.

Applications are considered three times each year and completed applications (along with supporting documentation) must be received by the Rouse Educational Trust Secretary by 1st March, 1st July and 1st November.

The future of medical radiation technology in New Zealand is dependent on a progressive approach, and the Trustees welcome any opportunity to help develop your professional development.
